Alicia Figueroa-Llinás has practiced exclusively in the area of labor and employment law on behalf of management for over 20 years. Alicia regularly counsels a broad spectrum of clients on issues such as terminations, employment discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, employment policies, labor law audits, affirmative action and collective bargaining administration. She has successfully litigated numerous disputes on behalf of employers involving a wide variety of employment law issues, including discrimination and retaliation, constructive discharge, covenants not to compete and trade secrets misappropriation. She has also represented both buyers and sellers in complex acquisition transactions with significant employment related issues, including transfers of going concerns and successor employer issues.

Her traditional labor experience includes advising and representing employers in connection with union representation campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, strike preparation, labor arbitrations and National Labor Relations Board proceedings. Alicia also provides counseling in business immigration law, particularly on investors’ visas, employment visas, labor certifications and employment-based permanent residence. She has been a member of the Labor Law Committees of the Puerto Rico Bar Association and the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, and was designated as the Government Affairs Director of the Puerto Rico Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) in 2012 and 2013.

She has been a frequent speaker on labor and employment topics for several organizations, such as the Society for Human Resources Management, the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association, the Association of Labor Relations Professionals and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, among others. Alicia serves as Secretary for the Board of Directors of the Hogar de Niñas de Cupey, a non-profit organization that provides shelter for homeless girls in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
